Newt Juice Fill

Graffiti font for pupils to colour in

American graphic designer Todd Dever designed this unconventional, playful typeface in 2003 for decorating skateboards. This was never actually done in practice, but the letters were interesting enough for an entire typeface, which he drew by hand with a pen.

Its voluptuous lines, comic-style bends, compressions and stretches as well as the playful serifs give the design a highly dynamic character – an effect heightened by the combination of the outline and fill variants. The typeface is therefore well-suited to graffiti or whimsical texts in the style of the American children's book author Dr. Seuss (The Grinch, Horton Hears a Who). Notably, and characteristically, the typeface shares its name with California-based producer of water sports binding lube.
