The opened two-page spread of the atlas contains an engraving of a map of Europe. The title and author of the map are named on a tablet in the top-right corner of the engraving: “Evropa recens descripta à Guilielmo Blaeuw”. The borders have been hand-coloured. All geographical objects are labelled in Latin. Single ships are depicted on the seas surrounding Europe. The map is bordered on three sides with margins that are divided into smaller areas, containing maps, vedutas and characters wearing costumes typical of their national dress. These images have been coloured in multiple colours.
