Script and Writing

Human beings have chronicled their world ever since the Stone Age and scientists have dated cave paintings in northern Spain right back to 40,000 years ago. Writing has been used for more than 5,000 years to record our thoughts and help us communicate with one another. The oldest texts in cuneiform originate from the end of the fourth century BC and some hieroglyph texts from Egypt are even older.

Script still remains a key to the world today. Answer our questions about milestones in the history of script and the surprising forms in which writing has been or is still used today.
